- Pure Carbon Surface Chemistry: This implies that there is little or no chemical leach resulting from tarry or other chemical residue from manufacturing of graphitised materials so that a ‘carbide’ surface is presented for adsorption without the possibility of possible contaminant displacement (?).
- Well-Developed Microporous Structure: These have only a few, well-developed micropores (impossible to get large pores from micropores by gasification?) suitable for adsorbing small molecules and gas etc.
- Environmentally Friendly Production: This is essential for a manufacturer not to employ chemicals so that the usual use of steam or CO2 is essential. Of course this reduces the environmental aspects of the method to a minimum.
- Excellent Thermal Stability: Since these materials are activated at much higher temperatures, this should give an end-use product of high stability with maximum retention of adsorption at higher temperatures.
