Classification Introduction

Coal Based Activated Carbon is a kind of versatile adsorbent made from the selected grades of coal such as bituminous, sub-bituminous and lignite by controlled thermal activation. The production process aims to produce a strong carbon skeleton containing a balanced pore volume distribution ranging from micropores through mesopores to macropores, making it suitable for the adsorption of a very wide variety of contaminants whose molecular weights may differ over a wide range. Usually available in either granular, powdered and pelleted forms of Coal Based Activated Carbon, it has good adsorption capacity and mechanical strength which makes it ideal for a variety of versatile uses and cost effective in many applications. This versatile activated carbon finds application in the purification of water, air and its use in chemical processing. Amongst the different types of Activated Carbons, it is one of the most widely used.

Relevant Application Scenarios

Water Treatment

Description:This carbon is derived from a coal source and removes organic compounds, chlorine and other contaminants from every type of water source due to its ideal balanced pore structure.

Wastewater treatment

It removes organic pollution and colours and toxicants from industrial and municipal wastewater streams.

Drinking Water Treatment

It removes chlorine and compounds producing taste and odour from water leaving the consumer with contamination-free drinking supplies.

Desalination

The carbon will pre-treat seawater by mineral preventing foulants from contaminating the reverse osmosis membrane system.

Air / Gas Treatment

Applications description: Efficient capture of gases, vapours, odours from air treatment applications.

Industrial waste gas treatment

Removal of volatile organic compounds, acid gases, toxic emissions from industrial effluents.

Biogas

Purification of biogas by adsorption of hydrogen sulphide and other contaminants.

Chemical

Description: GAC assists in chemical processes by adsorbing unwanted compounds and catalyzing reactions, improving efficiency and purity.

Desulfurization

It removes sulfur compounds from gases and liquids, reducing corrosion and emissions.

DeNOx

GAC adsorbs nitrogen oxides from exhaust streams, aiding in air pollution control.

Mercury Removal

It captures mercury from flue gases and wastewater, mitigating environmental hazards.

Catalytic

GAC serves as a catalyst support in chemical reactions, enhancing process rates and selectivity.

Metal Mining

Classification Description: The Hard Granular Form has excellent resistance to harsh environments in the mining industry, which also provides the opportunity for maximum gold adsorption.

Gold Recovery

Utilized in the Carbon-In-Pulp and Carbon-In-Leach process for the Adsorption of Gold from Cyanide Leach Solutions.
