Classification Introduction
Product Advantages and Characteristics
- Rapid adsorption kinetics: The small particle size means a short diffusion path, so that such materials can take up contaminants in the liquid much more quickly and respond fast to moving process conditions.
- Extremely high surface area: Many process conditions may be encountered wherein it is essential that contaminants in the liquid may be adsorbed by the largest surface area possible (e.g. many impurities, organic matter, Colouring dyes; their wetted surfaces will offer the largest contact area per unit volume of impurity to the adsorbing materials being used).
- Greater flexibility of usage and control: These materials can be readily dosed into almost any stream (reactors, mixing, treatment tanks, etc.) as a slurry, and the treatment can be so easily controlled from hour to hour etc.
- Economy in batch treatments: The treatment of certain specific batches would otherwise be costly if fixed-beds have to be provided for and such type of batch treatment would exceed the cost of fixed bed.

Relevant Application Scenarios
Water Treatment

Wastewater treatment
Added to treatment systems to remove recalcitrant organic pollutants, toxic compounds, and color from industrial and municipal effluent.

Drinking Water Treatment
Used for emergency or seasonal removal of taste, odor, algal toxins, and synthetic organic chemicals to ensure safe, palatable water.

Desalination
Pre-treats feed water to remove organic foulants that can cause membrane scaling and biofouling, improving reverse osmosis efficiency.
Food & Beverage

Food Decolorization
It adsorbs unwanted colors and contaminants from syrups and oils, ensuring product clarity.

Food Preservation
GAC helps control odors and spoilage agents, extending the freshness of stored food items.
Medical

Medicine
Serves as an active ingredient in oral antidotes for drug overdoses and poisonings, adsorbing toxins within the gastrointestinal tract.

Blood Purification
Used in hemoperfusion cartridges to directly remove toxins from the blood in cases of certain poisonings or liver failure.
Chemical

Desulfurization
It removes sulfur compounds from gases and liquids, reducing corrosion and emissions.

DeNOx
GAC adsorbs nitrogen oxides from exhaust streams, aiding in air pollution control.

Mercury Removal
It captures mercury from flue gases and wastewater, mitigating environmental hazards.

Catalytic
GAC serves as a catalyst support in chemical reactions, enhancing process rates and selectivity.
